The Rules

  1. This is an on-line competition only. No entries or votes can be submitted via any other means.
  2. All pieces entered must have been created from design to finish by the entrant, this includes clothing. Entrants may enter each category more than once but may have no more than one piece nominated. The entry must be an original design and not previously entered into any competition.
  3. All information provided must be true and correct. If it is subsequently discovered that a nominated piece does not adhere to the rules and criteria then it will be withdrawn from the competition and the entry fee will be forfeited. Entries cannot be altered once submitted.
  4. A separate entry form must be completed for each piece entered.
  5. The sizes for each category are the standing height. This measurement is best taken by lying your piece flat and taking the measurement from the bottom of the foot to the top of the head. Rabbits do present an issue with the height of their ears but it will be assumed that the measurement just described will be the size entered (ie excluding the ears!). Animals and bears standing on all fours should be measured from the nose to the base of the tail.
  6. The entries may be submitted with the photographs from the 1st June 2019 with the closing date for entries the 22nd Oct0ber 2019.
  7. You will need to complete your details. Provide some information about your creation and a brief description perhaps with an idea of your inspiration and the techniques used, maximum 100 words.
  8. The fee per entry is £22.50, payable when you submit your entry form.  Payments will be made online via Paypal.
  9. Photographs will need to be submitted with each entry. This should include one which shows the whole piece standing or sitting. The second photograph should be a detailed head shot. A third photograph may be entered if there is a particular detail for example footwork which isn’t shown in detail in the first two photographs. In the case of the tableaux category you must include a shot of the entire piece and then two more detailed shots. The photos must be taken against a plain background, remember that this is how your bear is to be judged so ensure that the photographs are in focus.
  10. Judges Choice Awards – The top three entries in each category will receive a Judges Choice Award and will be put forward to the public vote.
  11. The final vote will be open to an on-line public vote with a single vote being allowed for each category. The public vote will take place on-line from the 28th October 2019 until the 7th November 2019.  Each category winner will receive a category trophy. Please note that multiple voting will be detected and discounted.
  12. Winners will be announced at the Gala Dinner of the Great Yorkshire Teddy Bear Event, Sheffield, on Saturday the 16th November 2019. Trophies should be collected at the Great Yorkshire Teddy Bear Event or at Hugglets in February 2020. If you are unable to collect at either of these shows a request for the postal cost may be made.
